An impacted tooth is something that can cause destruction in your mouth, plus it can leave you in pain. It is important that you recognize the potential symptoms as soon as possible.

The sooner you recognize the problem, the sooner you can get it rectified. Some impacted teeth can be fixed, but more often than not, they require extraction to maintain the health of the rest of your mouth.

Symptoms You Have an Impacted Tooth

The best way to know if you have an impacted tooth is to know what an impacted tooth is. An impacted tooth is a tooth that gets stuck, essentially, before it is able to completely emerge from the gums.

It may be stuck coming in perfectly straight if the teeth around it pinch it, or it may be stuck coming in at an awkward angle. Both of these situations need to be addressed.

The most common symptom of an impacted tooth is pain. The pressure leads to aches where the tooth wants to come in, but it doesn't always come through as full-blown, miserable pain. You may notice other symptoms of an impacted tooth as well.

Some people struggle with bad breath due to the tooth's ability to hold on to debris or due to decay because the tooth did not emerge and get clean. Others struggle with headaches and pain that radiates through their jaw. This most commonly happens when the tooth becomes impacted in the jaw.

If you believe that you have an impacted tooth, it is important that you go in and contact our office. They can examine your mouth and help treat the tooth if it is, in fact, impacted. Find out more by calling their office and explaining the symptoms you are experiencing. They can help you move forward without pain and discomfort.
